Understanding Lead Paint in Older Homes

Does Your Home Have Lead?

Many homes built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint, which was commonly used in residential construction before it was banned for consumer use in the United States. In many cases, the paint may still be present underneath newer layers of paint and may not be visible. When lead-based paint deteriorates, is sanded, scraped, or disturbed during renovation, it can create fine dust that may pose health risks—especially to young children and pregnant women. Because of this, special safety procedures are required when working on homes where lead paint may be present. At Vivid Painting, we follow lead-safe work practices and can perform screening tests to help determine whether lead may be present before work begins, allowing us to plan the safest approach for your project.

Lead-Safe Renovation & Painting

We offer optional lead paint screening using EPA-recognized test swabs to quickly check painted surfaces for the presence of lead. This screening helps determine whether lead-safe work practices may be required before painting begins.

Note: Swab testing is a screening method and is not a certified lead inspection or laboratory analysis.
